MILWAUKEE – A 10-year-old boy who shot and killed his 44-year-old mother in Milwaukee last week has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder.
According to a criminal complaint, the boy was allegedly mad at his mother for waking him up early and not letting him get something on Amazon.

The fatal shooting happened around 7 a.m. on Monday, November 21 near 87th and Hemlock. Police initially said the boy was playing with the gun when it discharged and hit the boy’s mother. The woman died of her injuries. She was introduced as Quiana Mann.
According to the criminal complaint, when the boy was first interviewed, he said he was twirling the gun around his finger and it “went off by accident.” After hitting his mother, the boy woke up his sister who later found their mother dead and called 911.
Because of his age, the boy was allowed to stay with his family. However, the next day, the family contacted the Milwaukee Police Department with “serious concerns.”
The boy’s 26-year-old sister told detectives the boy had “anger issues” his whole life, the complaint said. The sister said the boy had “five different imaginary people who talk to him.”
The complaint said a therapist had previously given the child a “concerning diagnosis” and that the mother had installed cameras in the home to watch him. The complaint alleges that “someone had unplugged these cameras” two weeks before the woman’s murder.
The sister also told detectives that she learned that the morning after their mother’s death, the boy logged into the mother’s Amazon account and ordered an Oculus virtual reality headset.
A family member also alleged that the boy would pick up their puppy by the tail and “turn the puppy around until it screamed in pain,” the complaint said. This happened when the boy was allegedly four years old.
The boy’s aunt told detectives that the boy never cried or showed remorse after his mother’s death. The complaint alleges that the boy told his aunt that he was “actually holding a gun on his mother.” The day after his mother’s death, the aunt said the boy apologized for hitting his mother and then asked if his Amazon package had arrived.
In another interview with detectives, the boy allegedly admitted that he shot his mother because he was mad at his mother for waking him up early and not letting him get anything on Amazon. The complaint also said the boy admitted to taking the keys to the gun’s lock box from his mother the night before.
A 10-year-old boy is charged with first-degree reckless homicide. He faces a maximum sentence of 60 years if convicted.
A $50,000 cash bond was set for the boy. He will appear in court on December 7 for a status hearing.
