Aaron Carter, singer, dead at 34

Aaron Carter, the former pop singer and brother of Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, has died, a source close to the family tells CNN. He was 34 years old.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told CNN that they responded to a call for help at Carter’s Lancaster, California home on Saturday morning around 11 a.m. local time, when the deceased was found at the scene.

She was found dead in her bathroom, he said.

Officials have not released any information about the death.

Carter, who first rose to fame as a teenager with pop hits like “I Want Candy” and “Crush on You,” is survived by his 11-month-old son, Prince.

The singer’s debut album, “Aaron Carter,” was released in 1997 and he performed as the opening act for the Backstreet Boys earlier that year. Her fifth and final studio album, “Love,” was released in 2018.

Carter was also known for her television roles such as “Lizzie McGuire” on the Disney Channel and “7th Heaven,” which debuted on The WB Television Network. She also appeared on her family’s reality series on E! Entertainment Television, “House of Carters.”

The singer received love and support from fans and other celebrities in 2017 after coming out as bisexual.

“There is something I want to say that I feel is important to me and that has been weighing on my chest for almost half of my life,” Carter wrote on Twitter. “This doesn’t make me feel ashamed, but it’s a burden that I’ve been carrying for a long time that I want to get rid of.”

He then explained that at the age of 13 he “began to be attracted to boys and girls.”

“There were many years that passed when I thought about this, but until I was 17 years old, after having several relationships with girls, I had a relationship with a man I was attracted to. he worked and grew with him.”

The singer opened up in a 2019 episode of “The Doctors” about her battle with a number of mental health issues, including multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, severe anxiety and voice disorders.

“This is my reality,” Carter said as he held up a plastic bag of several bottles listed on a Facebook post.

In 2017, Carter was arrested in Georgia on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana while he and his girlfriend Madison Parker were driving through Habersham County.

The singer later said in an interview that he does not drink alcohol and denied having a drug problem, CNN previously reported.

“I don’t need help,” he said. “What I need is for people to understand that I am human and that I make mistakes like everyone else in this world, but I would not risk my life or my partner.”
