Draw delivers Round of 16 matchups for 2023 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League

  • The road to the finals and the FIFA Club World Cup is now open for sixteen participating clubs.
  • The 15th edition of the SCCL will begin with the Round of 16 matches in early March 2023.
MIAMI, FL – CONCACAF today held the official draw for the 2023 edition of the confederation’s flagship club competition, the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL).

SCCL 2023, which precedes the launch of the exciting new CONCACAF Club Ecosystem in 2023-24 and will involve the participation of 16 clubs from eight CONCACAF member associations, is scheduled to begin in the second week of March and conclude on Sunday, June 4, 2023. Back with the final round

In Monday’s draw, 16 clubs participating in this competition were divided into 8 matches of the round of 16 as follows:

Match #1: Austin FC (USA) vs Violet AC (HAI)
Match #2: Club Leon (Max) vs. Tauro FC (Pan)
Race number 3: Orlando City SC (USA) vs Tigres UANL (MEX)
Race number 4: CF Pachuca (MEX) vs Motagua FC (HON)
Race number 5: Vancouver Whitecaps FC (CAN) vs RCD España (HON)
Race number 6: Los Angeles FC (USA) vs LD Alajulense (CRC)
Race number 7: Atlas FC (MEX) vs CD Olimpia (HON)
Race number 8: Philadelphia Union (USA) vs Alianza FC (SLV)

Competition format and Windows schedule

The SCCL 2023 will begin with home and away round of 16 matches in March, followed by the quarterfinals and semi-finals in April, and the second legs of the semi-finals and first legs in May.

The decisive second leg final, where the new regional champion will be crowned, will take place on Sunday, 4 June 2023 and will host the best finalist club in the preliminary rounds of the competition.

Round of 16: March 7-9 (first games) and March 14-16 (second games)
quarter final: April 4-6 (first games) and April 11-13 (second games)
semi final: April 25-27 (first games) and May 2-4 (second games)
final: May 31 (first game) and June 4 (second game)

For all rounds of the competition, the pairings are determined based on the tournament bracket (found below) and the home club for the second leg of each series in each round is determined as follows:

Round of 16: Clubs from pot 1 (highest rank)
quarter final: Clubs of the 16th round of competitions 1, 3, 5 and 7
Semi-final and final: The best performance of the club in the previous rounds of the competition (based on wins, draws and, if necessary, goal difference).

CONCACAF will announce the full schedule, including kick-off times and other details, in the coming days.
