The Neighbourhood fire drummer Brandon Fried after groping allegations

Rock band The Neighborhood have fired drummer Brandon Fried after he was slapped with a serious charge.

Maria Zardoya, who fronts indie band The Marías, slammed the 32-year-old drummer for his promiscuous behavior, saying it was “one of the most unpleasant things” that had ever happened to her.

“I was at a bar last night, and I was grabbed under the table by Brandon Fried, the drummer of The Neighbourhood. It was one of the most unpleasant things I’ve ever experienced. I felt taken away, my secrets and my body,” wrote Zardoya on his Instagram story.

He then told the band that they “need a new drummer, this guy is stupid.”

Shortly after her surprise role, the team announced that Fried is no longer part of Sunday night’s The Neighborhood.

“Thank you Maria for coming forward. We do not tolerate anything inappropriate for women,” the “Sweater Weather” singer wrote.

“Because of what Brandon did, he will no longer be a member of The Neighbourhood.”

Fried responded to his actions, apologizing to the singer in a statement on Instagram.

“I’m very sorry to Maria. My actions were unwarranted and illegal,” wrote the 32-year-old.

Fried said he “needs to deal with my alcohol and drug addiction problems,” before revealing that he now “needs help.”

“I want to apologize to the women who were victims of any behavior that made them feel uncomfortable or violated,” he said. “We apologize to The Neighborhood and our fans for the inconvenience.”

The California rock band was formed in 2011, and consists of guitarists Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels, bassist Mikey Margot and vocalist Jesse Rutherford.

Fried joined the group in 2014.

The group has released four studio albums, the most recent of which was “Chip Chrome & the Mono-Tones” in 2020.

Frontman Rutherford, 31, recently confirmed his romance with singer Billie Eilish, 20, after the pair hit the red carpet at the LACMA Art + Film Gala 2022.
