Cruz said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will ultimately determine the manner and means of death of the children. “This is an unimaginable, senseless tragedy, and it’s an ongoing investigation,” Cruz said. Authorities would not comment on whether any mental illness may have played a role in the killings or whether there was any history of mental health. A spokeswoman for Massachusetts General Hospital confirmed that Clancy is an employee.
